Fun while it lasted....
Well, the time has come. After five challenges at [info]atlantis_lvw, I have been eliminated. It really was fun while it lasted, and except for the week I used my opt-out (during my miscarriage) I managed to write each week, according to the theme and limits of the challenge. It was a really good exercise, even when I thought I couldn't write anything.

Since I've been eliminated, I'll go ahead and post the three other entries that I haven't posted yet.

Daddy's Girl, from week 4, is here.

[info]atlantis_lvw: Challenge 5 Voting
The entries for the fifth challenge of [info]atlantis_lvw are up. This week's challenge is a 100 word drabble with the theme of colors. There are 9 entries, and 2 people will be eliminated this week. We are getting close to the end, and the voting is getting harder - so, stop by and help us out, and read some good drabbles while you are at it.

I can't believe I have kept this up, but I am stll writing for each challenge, and I haven't been eliminated, yet. It's kind of fun. I think I'd like to see this for other fandoms, too.

Fic: Daddy's Girl (Atlantis, PG)
I so rock! lol. Remember a few days ago, I said that I wrote a piece for [info]atlantis_lvw that I was really happy with, and would be really disappointed if I was eliminated this week. Well, not only was I not eliminated, but I actually won this round (well, I tied, but still) - and since I was one of the winners, my name and story was revealed, so I am going to go ahead and post it here in my jounral.

Also, we need more people to come out and vote each week (on Sunday), so if you are interested in SG-Atlantis fic, drop by and check it out. As we get farther along in the competition, the fic gets better and better.

She lives... (my muse, that is)
I wrote something today, and I am actually pretty proud of it. Go figure. I am still reading your response to my previous post, and actually getting a lot out of them.

So about my story - I am still participating in [info]atlantis_lvw, and today the fourth challenge was due. As usual, I left it to the last minute, and wrote it this morning, since I haven't been able to get inspired. However, I am quite proud of what I created. For the first time since I joined the contest, I am actually going to be disappointed if I get kicked out this week. I really feel like I did a good job. I can't necessarily say that of previous challenges (I thought for sure I would be gone after challenge two, considering what I turned in - and the feedback I got reinforced that idea), but I didn't, and we are down to sixteen particpants this week.

So you guys will (hopefully) have to wait a few weeks until I can post the story here, and I don't expect it to be overly interesting, due to the subject matter, but I am proud of it, and that's a good feeling.

Thx, for inspiring me to keep trying.

Writing Discussion and Meme
Can you call yourself a writer, if you don't write anything?

Ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration. I have written some. I obviously have an archive and I do have stuff that I have written recently, but not posted, for various reasons. I'm going to at least put a drabble up tonight, maybe work on my current Roswell fic. I have also written a few short pieces for [info]atlantis_lvw, but I am waiting until I have actually been eliminated from the competition before I post them publicly, since the entries are anonymous each week.

Here's my current dilemma though - For various reasons, that I don't really want to get into, I am depressed, very depressed. Because of that, I have little drive or creativity at the moment. Even the escapism of writing is beyond me at the moment. I want to be the type who manages to do something each day, no matter how small, but how do you do that when you can't get in the mindset/headspace to hear your characters and flesh out your plots?

I'm really asking - I'd love to hear how you work through/past that emotional quagmire.

As for the meme part of this post - which I have seen everywhere lately:

[info]atlantis_lvw - Round One
So, I took a chance and entered the Atlantis Last Visible Writer competition. I don't expect to win, or even make it too far, as there are some great writer's involved, but I liked the chance to spread my wings a bit, and to possibly get some critical feedback, which I actually enjoy. (And I did say I would get some writing done...)

It's kind of survivor style, with eight rounds of competition, where one or more people are eliminated each week, and the voting is done on anonymously posted stories based on that weeks theme.

If you are at all interested in SGA, you should stop by and read the entries and vote 1-10 and 11-21.
